Barbara Wright, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist that has been in private practice for over 30 years in Laguna Beach, California. During this time she has developed a method and system of compassionate communication for skillful conflict resolution. This method, Metta4All, is the culmination of her life’s work as a speech therapist and clinical psychologist.
The Metta Method has been part of Dr. Wright practice with individual clients, businesses across the globe for over 15 years. Also with diverse populations including, students, legal professionals, educators, therapists, and prison inmates.
Dr. Wright, now also known as the “Metta Lady” cites the fundamental origins of the Metta Method in ancient wisdom combined with the contemporary sciences of neurology, biology, chemistry, psychology, and the mystery of the human experience.
Dr. Wright earned her doctorate from the United States International University and began her career as a speech therapist where she developed the first school for children of multiple disabilities (deafness, brain injury, and cerebral palsy) in Ensenada, Mexico. Upon her return to California Dr. Wright become an interned at the V.A. as a speech therapist where she challenged how soldiers with severe head trauma returning from conflict zones were being treated.The belief then was that their cognitive process could not be improved. She challenged this and was some what successful. Later studies of neuroplasticity have shown the some brain injury have significant  healing potential
After VA, Dr. Wright set up the first Speech and Language program for the Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) where she developed a robust program for children K through 12 with and a magnet program for children with aphasia and autism.Her tenure culminated with 5 therapists one in each school. A tremendous  addition to the  quality of education for the neuroplasticityschool
Dr. Wright started her clinical practice in Laguna Beach, initially focusing on children and families and orthopedic patient. Later she developed a prevention and rehabilitation for patients who suffered from cardiac  illness and or  incidents. This progressed into what became the practice of integrated medicine, informing families of patients and patients about how to reduce stress and improve nutrition.
Dr. Wright’s work has taken her to Asia, South America, Europe and India. Her journey as a speech therapist and clinical psychologist has culminated in the creation of a compassionate communication paradigm, Metta4All.
